Student Life at HBS

At Hattie B. Stokes Elementary, we believe learning goes beyond the classroom.
We are proud to offer a variety of activities that help students explore their interests, build confidence, and connect with their peers. We also value strong partnerships with families and provide many opportunities for parents and caregivers to stay engaged in their child’s education.
Student Opportunities
- Read-Up: A literacy-focused program that helps students strengthen their reading skills through guided practice and one-on-one support.
- Choir: Open to students who love music and performing, our choir builds vocal skills and teamwork through regular rehearsals and performances.
- STEM Club: Step into the world of STEM! Students get hands-on experience with basic coding concepts, encouraging creativity, critical thinking, and tech literacy.
- Running Club: Promotes fitness, goal-setting, and perseverance while encouraging students to have fun and stay active. Students who participate in running club compete against the other three LCSC elementary schools at the annual BIG Run at the end of the school year!
- HBS Leadership Team: Students at Hattie B. Stokes have the opportunity to serve on the HBS Leadership Team— a dynamic group of student leaders who make a meaningful impact throughout our school. Whether they’re welcoming guests at school events, leading tours for LCSC Tiger Ambassadors, or supporting younger students and classrooms, Leadership Team members play an important role in building a positive school culture. This is a valuable opportunity for students to get involved, develop leadership skills, and learn what it truly means to lead by example.
